Not a surprise - GOP leader puts party before country

This in from Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell:

“He (Donald Trump) needs someone highly experienced and very knowledgeable because it's pretty obvious he doesn't know a lot about the issues. You see that in the debates in which he's participated. It's why I have argued to him publicly and privately that he ought to use a script more often—there is nothing wrong with having prepared texts.”

“For all of his obvious shortcomings, Donald Trump is certainly a different direction, and I think if he is in the White House he'll have to respond to the right-of-center world which elected him, and the things that we believe in. So I'm comfortable supporting him.”

Read those two quotes.  Reread them.  Sen. McConnell isn't talking about someone running for the local city council.  He is talking about the man he wants to occupy the Oval Office.  Someone who doesn't know a lot about issues, any issues.  Who ought to use a prepared texts so as to not display his ignorance.  Who has obvious shortcomings & will take the country in  different, unknown direction.  Someone Sen. McConnell "thinks" will support & advance the conservative agenda, the principles on which they stand.  He hopes.

And this is the person he is comfortable supporting.  Because although Donald Trump might be a total disaster for the country, he MIGHT back a conservative agenda.

Takes my breath away, it's so craven.
