The aide's comment is more telling

Carly Fiorina continues to shrug off the Washington Post as no longer credible because it gave those three Pinocchios to her "secretary to CEO" claim.  That stands her in good stead attacking any of WaPo's subsequent articles.

Sunday's edition featured an article looking at Mrs. Fiorina's money problems during her losing senate bid.  Now, having lingering debt after a high-stakes, bruising campaign is nothing new.  Neither is delaying paying it off until before announcing a new candidacy.  Hillary did it, too - she paid off her last 2008 debt in January 2013.

But Carly's comments about her money management are far less interesting to me than the comment made by her senate campaign operations director, Jon Cross.  Cross rallied to her defense with, “People are just upset and angry and throwing her under the bus.  If we didn’t win, why do you deserve to get paid? If you don’t succeed in business, you shouldn’t be the first one to step up and complain about getting paid.”

Interesting to note - Jon Cross WAS paid.  Carly Fiorina's contributions to her campaign were repaid long before the guy who printed up her flyers, before the widow of her pollster, found dead in his home just a month before Election Day 2010.

Carly has no reason to be leery of retiring her campaign debt before announcing - done all the time.  But that her operations director could make such a breath-taking defense of her actions - that's a bit more telling.
